"This is My Softening" — Wendy Brightbill
From the collection "The Way Flowers Remember"

A generous, sprawling bouquet spills across a dreamy backdrop of soft periwinkle and blush, arranged in a row of glass vases along a windowsill. Ruby red roses take center stage, surrounded by a chorus of marigold, mauve, blush, and lavender blooms, each rendered with Brightbill's signature loose, confident brushwork. The pale, atmospheric background gives the whole piece a hazy, sun-drenched softness, as if seen through a gentle morning light.

The title feels exactly right — there's a gentleness here, an openness, even amid the abundance of color and bloom. It's a piece about ease and unfolding, the kind of quiet permission to slow down that flowers so often offer.

Oil and acrylic on wrapped canvas, 18" x 24" x 1.5" — ready to hang, no frame required.

-Wendy Brightbill began her creative journey after a car accident rewired her brain. Painting and making a mess with paint allowed her to embrace the process and stay present in the moment. God used art to bring healing to a fractured brain: a real-life beauty-from-ashes story. Painting with bright, vibrant colors lifted her depression and allowed Wendy to build a creative life that she never knew existed.

Wendy is a native of Colorado and resides at the picturesque base of Pikes Peak. She is married to her friend and biggest supporter, Brannan. Together they have three beautiful daughters!
